First Innings(Pakistan’s Batting)

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Pakistan began their innings with Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub as their opening batsmen.

Power Play

West Indies bowlers went tight early by giving away just 7 runs in first two overs of the power play. In 3rd over of the power play. In third over Sahibzada Farhan managed to hit a Six on the 2nd ball and helped The Pakistan team to secure 9 runs from that over. On the second ball of the sixteenth over Shamar Joseph finally broke the opening partnership as Sahibzada Farhan lost his wicket, caught by Shai Hope. Sahibzada Farhan scored 74 runs for the Green Shirts, facing just 53 deliveries.

After this wicket Hassan Nawaz came into the ground for batting. He is known for his aggressive batting style. On the last ball of the seventeenth over he smashed a Six to Shamar Joseph. Second Innings(West Indies’s Batting)

Power Play

Jewel Andrew and Alick Athanaze took an aggressive start for the team West Indies Team. Jewel Andrew played a ground shot on the first delivery of the innings and secured three runs on it. He came back to strike for the third ball and smashed two back to back fours on the third and fourth deliveries of the first over. After a dot ball, he hit another four off Hasan Ali on the last ball of the over. This helped the West Indies to score 16 runs in the first over.

In the second over Athanaze joined the aggressive hitting and hit a four on the first ball of the second over. After a dot ball on the third ball of the second over, he charged Mohammad Nawaz with a Six. Guess what! another four on the very next ball. This yielded West Indies team 17 runs in the second over and helped to have a total of 33 runs on the board in just two overs without any loss.

In the third over Haris Rauf came into the attack. He gave only 5 runs in the third over. Fourth over was bowled by Faheem Ashraf. He gave only four run in his crucial over. This disciplined bowling helped in slow down the West Indies team. West Indies team was able to have only nine runs in these two overs. Which led the West Indies team to score 42 runs in four over without any loss.

First Wicket

On the second ball of the fifth over, Haris Rauf bowled to Jewel Andrew who aggressively tried again to heave it to the leg side. But unfortunately the shot didn’t come off, and Andrew was caught out by Hassan Ali. In this way Haris Rauf managed to break down the opening partnership of Jewel Andrew and Alick Athanaze. In the ninth over, Mohammad Nawaz came into the attack again. This time he did his job when Hope tried to hit the second ball for a six but unfortunately was caught by Saim Ayub. He managed only 7 runs on 9 balls for West Indies.After this loss Rutherford came into the batting attack for the West Indies. After just one dot ball, he launched the fourth ball of the same over for a Six.

Fifty for Athanaze

In the tenth over, when Muqeem came into the attack, Athanaze took the charge and played the very first ball for a four. At the end of this over, he was just one run away from his half-century. On the first ball of the next over he took a single and completed his fifty. This was his first T20I fifty. He achieved this benchmark from just 31 deliveries.

In the same over, Rutherford on the very next delivery beautifully timed the ball for a four. At the end of eleventh over West Indies were able to bring 98 runs on the board. West Indies were able to cross the threshold of 100 runs in the 12th over.

At this point of the match , it had been 12 balls till we have seen a boundary. Athanaze was waiting for an opportunity and found it, Saim Ayub came into the attack again. Khushdil Shah cashed this opportunity and Athanaze had to go back to the dressing room. He played a brave inning of 60 runs on just 40 balls. This also marked Saim Ayub’s first wicket for giving 25 runs in three overs. With this loss team West Indies was standing at 110 with the loss of three wickets after thirteen overs.

After Athanaze’s wicket Roston Chase came for batting to join Rutherford. However, Athanaze’s wicket was not an end to the aggression of West Indies’s batting line as Sherfane Rutherford was still on the ground. Rutherford played the second ball of the 13th over for a four. After the end of the Muqeem’s over Saim Ayub came into the bowling attack again. Chase played the second ball of Ayub’s over for four shifting the pressure back to Saim Ayub again. Rutherford joined the party by hitting a massive Six of ninety five meters on the fourth ball of the same over. This shot led the West Indies team to score 130 runs for the lost 3 wickets.

At this point, West Indies required 38 run in just 12 balls. Haris Rauf was given the ball for the nineteenth over. He gave just Six runs in the first four deliveries. However, for the fifth delivery, he missed his length completely and the ball went for a full toss outside out stump. Rutherford dragged the ball towards the leg side with his immense power for an eighty one meter Six. Along with a single on the last ball West Indies scored 13 runs from the nineteenth over. This six helped Sherfane Rutherford to achieve the milestone of his fifty runs.

In the final over West Indies required 25 runs. Pakistan decided to go with Hasan Ali. He successfully missed the very first delivery of his over. On the second delivery, Rutherford attempted a big shot, the ball went straight to long-on where Sahibzada Farhan took the catch. Rutherford tried his best until the last over and scored 51 runs on just 35 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes.
